In July 1994, golfers Dr. Les Grace, Joe Fitch, Steve Tucker and Bob Macholan played 102 holes in one day to raise money for the Washington County unit of the American Cancer Society.
The Longest Day of Golf foursome played the nine-hole Blair Golf Club course nine times, adding three extra holes at the end according to a 1995 article promoting the next event. Official scorers were Bill Rasmussen, Dave Barner and Ron Stork.
Tucker led his team with six birdies and 43 made par shots through 102 holes. Dr. Grace had two birdies, while Fitch had one and Macholan shot par on 26 holes. Together, they averaged one hole every five minutes.
The 1995 Longest day event, meanwhile, was co-chaired by Judy Stork, Helen Macholan and Betty Long. They hoped to help the Washington County Volunteers meet their $12,000 crusade goal.
