Arlington girls 3rd, boys 4th at Platteview meet

Track team competes again today at Lakeview

The Arlington Eagles spent April 17 under the sun at Platteview High School, competing during the Trojans' second home meet of the season.
Coach Kyle Buckingham's squad earned third in the girls' standings with 77 points, while the AHS boys took fourth with 73. The Hastings Tigers, meanwhile, won the day with 108 and 114 points, respectively.
Hailey O'Daniel and Whitney Wollberg led the Eagle girls' effort, winning individual events. Wollberg cleared a bar set at 9 feet, 2 inches for gold in the pole vault, while O'Daniel logged a first-place long jump attempt of 16-0.5.
While Wollberg also earned second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:03.2, O'Daniel was second in the 800 run (2:22.04) and joined Kelise Krivohlavek, Brooke Hilgenkamp and Katie Moss for a second-place result in the 3,200-meter relay. The team crossed the finish line in 10:54.28.
Arlington freshman Hayley Arp earned second and third in the shot put and discus, too, while her senior sister, Taylor Arp, was fourth and sixth in the same events.
On the boys' side, the Eagles' Dallin Franzluebbers claimed three gold medals at Platteview. He won the individual 400 in 51.89 seconds before contributing another 400 meters to AHS' win in the 1,600 relay. Kevin Flesner, Trey Hill, Kaden Foust and he clocked in at 3:31.4.
Coach Buckingham's 3,200 relay squad of Flesner, Franzluebbers, Foust and Nolan May also took first in 8:17.55. Additionally, May and Foust earned second-place finishes in the 1,600 run and long jump, respectively, while Flesner, Trent Koger and Zane Gerrish were third in the 800, 300 hurdles and shot put.
The Eagles next compete today at Columbus Lakeview. The road meet begins at 2 p.m.
