The Class C No. 7 Arlington softball team earned an irregular walk-off win Tuesday night at the Two Rivers Sports Complex.
Paige Kraemer alertly scored from third base on an infield fly as it hit the dirt just in front of the Ashland-Greenwood catcher who was tracking it. The run represented the Eagles' fourth during the come-from-behind, 4-3 victory. The Nebraska Capitol Conference win pushed AHS' record to 6-3 this season.
Entering the bottom of the sixth frame, coach Janelle Lorsch's home squad trailed the Bluejays 3-2. That changed when Gracie Herman doubled and senior Hailey Brenn knocked her in for the tie.
After a scoreless top of the seventh inning, the Eagle's Cadie Robinson pushed Kraemer to third base on a one-out single.
The next Arlington batter struck out before Herman hit an Ashland pitch straight up into the air. That ball fell and the Eagles won.
They were scheduled to play game No. 10 of the fall season Thursday at Louisville, but next play 6:30 p.m. Tuesday against Raymond Central. The NCC tilt will be played back at AHS' Two Rivers Sports Complex.
