Gerald (Jerry) Bradford, 82

Gerald D. Bradford, a proud military man, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Feb. 18, 2024, at the age of 82. He was born on July 14, 1941, in Fremont, Neb., to Lee and Meta Bradford.

Gerald's life was one of service and adventure. After graduating from Arlington High School in Nebraska, he embarked on fulfilling his duty in the U.S. Navy, which he joined in 1958. He cherished his time in the Navy and carried the pride of serving his country throughout his life.

In 2004, Gerald found love and companionship with Sue, whom he married on Feb. 16 in South Dakota. Together, they shared a passion for travel, frequently visiting South Dakota and indulging in the joy of spring training.

Gerald was not only dedicated to his country and his wife but also to his family. He was a loving and supportive father to his children, Penny, Jerry Lee, John, Patty and Mike. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Gerald had a variety of interests. He enjoyed coaching softball, bowling and watching baseball, particularly cheering for the Kansas City Royals. Additionally, he was an avid supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Gerald is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Bradford, his children, grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Gerald was the youngest and the baby of his family. He embraced the spoils of his sisters. He is preceded in death by his sisters Nadine Meier, Elaine Grabbe, Margone Cook and Bonnie Harrington, as well as his brother, Lee Martin Jr. who passed as an infant.

Funeral: A funeral service to honor and celebrate Gerald's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at Wyuka Funeral Home in Lincoln, Neb., with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for further designation.
