County runners complete Good Life Halfsy

Lincoln hosts half marathon Nov. 5

Washington County runners from Blair, Fort Calhoun, Arlington and Herman recently competed and completed The Good Life Halfsy Half Marathon on Nov. 5 in Lincoln.
Blair High School senior and recent Wayne State College signee Allie Czapla was the county's top finisher, claiming 308th out of the 5,020 athletes who secured times across 13.1 miles. She finished in 1:34:57.37, which was first in her age 15-19 female category and 43rd among all female.
Former Blair Bear Ted Lueders was the first Washington County male to complete the course, finishing 506th in 1:40:33.7. He was 65th in the age 15-19 males category, while another BHS senior — Reece Ewoldt was 10th among 15-19 females. The future University of Nebraska-Kearney runner was 603rd overall, clocking in at 1:42:58.26.
Joel Murch-Shafer of Blair was 605th, too, while BHS' Nadia Davey took 18th in the aforementioned teenage grouping and 731st overall.
Arlington Public Schools Supt. Dawn Lewis finished 1,001st overall as well. She was 16th in her age group and clocked in at 1:50:09.86.
Mark Reynolds of Blair was next in 1,066th ahead of Arlington runner Connor Eurek, who took 1,182nd. Recent BHS graduate Emily Lamoureux took 1,316th, too.
Fort Calhoun runner Mike Huggenberger was 2,581st overall, but was, notably, eighth in the men ages 70 and older category. He crossed the 13.1-mile finish line in 2:13:30.1.
Montessa Munoz of Blair finished 3,883rd in 2:37:17.15, too, while Herman's Connie Birdsong finished the race in 2:54:41.59 for 14th in her age group. The latter runner was 4,415th overall as well.
Several more Washington County residents were listed in Halfsy results as participants or registrants during the Lincoln half marathon. Natalie Wood, Vicky Munoz, Karen Murch-Shafer, Jenna Murch-Shafer and Rick Murch-Shafer of Blair were among those noted as were Fort Calhoun's Sara Ruthven and Luke Daly. Jess Villwok of Arlington was listed as well.
