Hegemann, O'Daniel make 1st runs in Wyoming

Arlington cowgirls Libby Hegemann and Hailey O'Daniel have completed their first runs in front of the National High School Finals Rodeo crowd in Gillette, Wyo.
Hegemann, who makes her second goat-tying attempt Saturday, finished fifth out of 31 timed runs last Sunday night during the first rodeo performance of the international event. She finished tying her goat in 8.39 seconds, which was just 0.14 seconds out of fourth.
O'Daniel, meanwhile, made her first barrel racing run at Gillette's Morningside Park on Tuesday night. She finished 27th out of 32 cowgirls, stopping the clock in 22.83 seconds. The result was 145th out of 158 during the first go-round with one performance yet to be completed Wednesday morning.
O'Daniel second run was set for Thursday morning with results set to appear in next Tuesday's Washington County Pilot-Tribune.
Overall, Hegemann's first goat-tying effort was 24th out of 125 first go-round runs with one performance left to go. The second go-round started with Wednesday night's rodeo and continues through Saturday morning when the finals performers for later in the night become official.
