AHS girls improve to 17-3
The Arlington High School girls basketball team earned its 17th win of the season Friday, routing Conestoga on the road, 52-17.
The Eagles (17-3 overall) led the Cougars (2-16) 18-1 after one period and 32-9 at halftime. Their advantage hit 28 after three quarters, too.
Sophomore Emme Timm led AHS with 16 points, while senior Taylor Arp scored 13 with seven made free throws. Macy Wolf added eight points, too.
The 17 points coach Tashia Wolf's team allowed are a season low. The Eagles previously kept West Point-Beemer to just 21 points in the season opener last November.
Arlington was set to host North Bend Central on Monday and next competes today against Plattsmouth. The 6 p.m. home game is preceded by 4:30 junior varsity contests.

Boys' upset bid falls short
Trailing 37-34 after three quarters, the Conestoga boys basketball team overcame Arlington's attempt at a road upset Friday, 55-47.
The Cougars (14-2 overall) outscored coach Jake Polk's Eagles (8-10) 21-10 during the fourth period, handing AHS its fourth-straight loss. The Eagles' most-recent win was Jan. 20 against Syracuse.
Arlington led Conestoga after each of the first three quarters. It held a 13-8 lead after 8 minutes, 30-23 after 16 and by three points after 24.
Jaxson Burns led the Eagles with 15 points. All 15 were scored during the first half before Kieryn Grothe scored three of his 13 total from long range during the final minute of the fourth quarter. The guard's 3-point make cut the Cougars' lead to 52-47, but Polk's squad couldn't draw any closer.
AHS was set to play North Bend Central and next hosts Plattsmouth at 6 p.m. today.
