Braxton Soll and Cameron Hancock won back-to-back matches before a 138-pound forfeit pushed the Arlington boys wrestling team past Douglas County West on Tuesday, 40-38.
Overall, the results of the 126-, 132- and 138-pound weight classes allowed the Eagles to come back from a 38-22 road deficit to win the Nebraska Capitol Conference (NCC) dual. Coach Doug Hart's AHS squad went 4-5 in contested matches with three forfeit victories.
Kolton Gilmore won the Eagles' first match at 165 pounds. He bested Kayden Vermaas by 11-1 major decision before Ben Flesner's second-period pin at 175.
Karson Foust and Zane Gerrish tallied team points by forfeit, too, but Soll's pin of the Falcons' Hunter Holding pulled Arlington within 38-28. Hancock's pin of Riley Jensen came next in 2:42 before Tanner Kyllo had his hand raised to claim the dual win by forfeit.
Coach Hart's team next competes 9:30 a.m. Saturday back at DC West for the NCC Tournament. The AHS girls, meanwhile, compete 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Weeping Water.
Both Eagles teams were scheduled to host their home tournaments Jan. 13, but the events were called off due to severe winter weather in the area.
