It’s true.
I pass out special recognition for athletic achievement easily and weekly. That’s not to say it isn’t warranted, though.
Mention of this week’s Nannen Physical Therapy Athletes of the Week is certainly warranted. Landon Bernasek, Dallin Franzluebbers and Savanah deserve their flowers.

Landon Bernasek, Fort Calhoun wrestling: The Pioneers’ 126-pounder had a 5-0 week, going 3-0 Saturday to win a Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament title. All three of his opponents had winning records, too. Special mention, however, goes to two more conference champions — Presley Olberding and Gage Nixon.

Dallin Franzluebbers, Arlington basketball: Sometimes it’s not about how many baskets you make, but about when those baskets come. This Eagle scored well above his average with 13 points Saturday at Syracuse during a three-overtime victory. His bucket at the end of regulation actually forced OT, too. Special AHS mention goes to Trent Koger after he scored a team-best 41 points across two wins this past week.

Savanah Roan, Blair wrestling: The senior Bear’s second weekly honor this season came after a Plattsmouth Invitational win. She had three pins with none of them taking more than 50 seconds to achieve as the Bears earned runner-up honors as a team. Riley Martin deserves credit, too, after winning her weight class with two victories.

Congrats to all mentioned in this week’s update. Come back to our website Wednesday evening to watch the Athlete of the Week video interview.
