Zam Driver Turned Writer: Tip of the cap to junior high sports

Posted

People still act surprised to see me.
With the amount of time I spend inside Washington County schools, their surprise often surprises me.
That said, there are certain sporting events where I'm not caught off guard — I don't get to junior high and middle school games often.
Thankfully, there is a little bit of time here between high school sports seasons to check in. As evidenced by the last few newspapers, I've had a chance to see the new Otte Blair Middle School wrestling team as well as a number of basketball teams.
It's been fun.
It also gives me a chance to tip my cap to all those that make these junior high and middle school contests happen. From the kids to the adults, it's impressive how all these things can come together when time is tight.
So, congrats to all those involved in the successes of seventh- and eighth-grade sports at our county schools. Keep working and ensuring future high school success with all of your hard work.
