SUBDISTRICT UPDATE: Volleyball teams compete in tourneys

BHS advances, while AHS and FCHS close season

The Blair High School volleyball team won its Class B-4 Subdistrict bracket in Schuyler on Tuesday, while the Arlington and Fort Calhoun squads closed their seasons Monday in Valley.
The Bears (10-21 overall) swept South Sioux City (25-16, 25-21, 25-22) and the host Warriors (25-16, 25-9, 25-21) to advance to the district finals round of the Class B postseason. Their Saturday matchup was not announced as of late Tuesday night.
Fort Calhoun, meanwhile, went 1-1 Monday during the C1-3 Tournament in Valley. The Pioneers were eliminated from district finals contention by Douglas County West, 3-1, after besting the Arlington Eagles with a 3-0 sweep in the opening round.
FCHS ended its season 9-20 overall, while AHS went 2-25 this fall.
