Please give, give, give

Over the last four years, Washington County has shown its generosity raising more than $270,000 during Washington County Gives.

In 2020, this day of giving raised $109,824 for area nonprofits — the single highest amount in its history and this during a pandemic year.

Washington County Gives began as a collaboration between the Washington County Community Foundation and the Washington County Chamber of Commerce to grow awareness of the county's nearly 100 nonprofits and showcase the spirit of giving.

What started as a grassroots effort has grown, and these nonprofits have benefitted. The funds have been used to help better the communities we live in.

Now, the community has a chance to step up again.

Tuesday marks the fifth annual Washington County Gives. Organizations, such as Blair Little League, Camp Fontanelle, Friends of the Jeanette Hunt Animal Shelter, Roots to Wings and the Washington County Museum, are participating.

Donors can also give to various funds, including the effort for the new Generations Park in Blair, the Colton J. Peterson Memorial Fund and the Fort Calhoun Community Schools Foundation/Pioneer Foundation Fund.

It's time for Washington County to show why its one of the best places to live and work in the state. Give what you can to support others in the community.
