Weston Lupardus finished just three shots out of first place last Saturday, leading his Blair Youth Shooting Sports (BYSS) at its second Eastern Cornhusker Trapshooting Conference (ECTC) event of the season.
The Blair marksman hit 90 of his 100 targets in Omaha, earning a top-10 finish behind first-place Vincent Timberlake of Papillion-La Vista. He went 48-for-50 in the 16-yard event.
The next BYSS shooter in the high overall standings was Dalton Duane Nielsen, who took out 87 clay pigeons. Aaron Pierce (86), Carter Mandarich (86), Kalvin Kies (86) and Morgan Shaner (85) of Fort Calhoun were next.
Mandarich, Jacob Vanek, Nielsen and Wyatt Blackford — like Lupardus — found success from 16 yards out, taking out 45 or more targets. Harold Kies, meanwhile, hit 44 in handicap competition from 20-21. Riley Brodersen and Ian Lodge hit 43 of their 50 shots in the 20-21-yard event, too.
Overall, Blair's Orange lineup earned sixth, taking out 425 targets on the day. First-place Millard West shot 441.
Tregan Baker, meanwhile, led all Blair shooters at the ECTC Junior shoot in Papillion. He hit 38 of his 50 targets, while Johnny Henton took out 36 and Jaydyn Backman shot 31.
BYSS' Senior division shooters continue their season this Saturday back at the Harry A. Koch Trap & Skeet range in Omaha, while the Juniors will shoot in Papillion for the third-straight week.
