Eagles open season with Stone Creek win
Josh Hamre and Jacob Meehan were the first two Arlington golfers to tee off the season Thursday at Stone Creek Golf Course.
“Beautiful,” Hamre said after Meehan's second shot on the second hole. “Good shot.”
The pair led AHS to a dual victory against Omaha Concordia, coach Landon Walkenhorst confirmed. Hamre finished with 42 strokes across nine holes with a seventh-hole eagle, while Meehan finished with 44 swings. Tyler Anthofer added a 46, while Hunter Wallace carded 55 strokes.
The Eagles' Ben Stork and Johnathan Taylor finished with 61 and 72 swings, too, respectively.
“Overall great day to get out on the course and play,” Walkenhorst said. “The boys played well, but lots of room for improvement.”
AHS next competes 9 a.m. Wednesday at The Pines in Valley.

Fort Calhoun starts in Tekamah
Fort Calhoun golfers finished second out of three teams Thursday during their season-opener at Northridge Country Club in Tekamah.
“Did good for our first time out,” coach Dustin Humphrey said.
The Pioneers' lineup finished with 211 strokes, while Tekamah-Herman had 171 and Lyons-Decatur Northeast produced 242. Owen Miller led FCHS with just 44 swings across nine holes, while Jayden Miller added 49, and both Beau Ruma and Tysen Sunderman had 59 apiece.
Caden Newman carded 64 strokes, too.
Aiden Garbers, meanwhile, led Calhoun's junior varsity lineup with 58 swings.
The varsity Pioneers next compete 9 a.m. Wednesday during Douglas County West's home invite. It's set to be played at The Pines in Valley.
