High School Baseball Roundup: Bears fall at No. 3 Skutt

The Blair baseball team scored first Monday at Class B No. 3 Omaha Skutt, but the Skyhawks scored the most.
The Bears fell to 1-2 with the 4-1 road loss. Their Tuesday game at Omaha Concordia was called off due to rain.
Catcher Conner O'Neil plated BHS' lone run during the top of the third inning at Skutt. The 1-0 lead held until the Skyhawks scored twice during the bottom of the fourth.
Overall, Brady Brown, J'Shawn Unger and Bo Nielsen led the Bears with 2-for-3 games at the plate. Brown scored his team's run.
Unger, meanwhile, suffered the pitching loss despite seven strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings.
Blair was scheduled to play Platteview on Thursday and next plays Monday against Omaha Roncalli. The home game starts at 4:30 p.m.

Eagles drop home game
Monday's Arlington baseball game ended when an Eagle was thrown out at the plate on the Washington County Fairgrounds diamond.
Wayne won 5-4, topping AHS (1-2 overall) with a single run during the top of the final inning. The Blue Devils are 1-0.
Grange Suhr suffered the pitching loss despite four strikeouts across just two innings. Jack Bang also struck out four for the Eagles, while allowing just two earned runs in five frames.
Coach Tyler Stender's team score all four of its runs during the bottom of the sixth inning. Kaden Pittman and Blaine Vogt notched RBIs, while Logan Kaup, Isaac Foust and Colton Willmott scored runs. Both Foust and Braden Monke tallied extra-base hits.
Arlington was scheduled to play Thursday in Bennington and next competes Saturday in a Omaha Roncalli triangular. The Eagles face the host Pride at 10 a.m. before a game against Elkhorn Mount Michael.

Rains forces FCHS postponement
The Fort Calhoun baseball team was supposed to play at Wayne on Tuesday, but the game was postponed by rain.
The Pioneers' game with the Blue Devils was rescheduled to April 9.
Coach Roy Prauner's team returned to the field Thursday, however, and next competes 2 p.m. Saturday against Omaha Northwest. The home game will be played after a junior varsity tilt at noon.
