Kailynn Gubbels and Keelianne Green won three individual events apiece Tuesday, leading their Arlington girls track and field team to a Columbus Lakeview Invite title.
The pair — which swept the girls' hurdle races, the 800-meter run, and the long, triple and high jumps — combined with Chase Andersen and Whitney Wollberg to win the 1,600-meter relay, too. The Eagles scored 106 team points overall, which was 18 more than second-place David City Aquinas.
AHS Kaden Foust, meanwhile, cleared 20 feet — soaring 20-2.5 — to win the boys' long jump. His efforts helped coach Steven Gubbels' male team to a third-place finish behind Lakeview and Malcolm.
Hailey O'Daniel won the 1,600 run, too, as Arlington won eight events overall at the rural Columbus school. Colby Grefe — who set a 2:02.45 personal record in the 800 — and Trent Koger claimed second-place finishes, while Foust, Dallin Franzluebbers, Kyle Quinn and Taylor Arp added bronze-medal performances for the Eagles as well.
AHS next competes 10 a.m. Saturday at the Nebraska Capitol Conference meet in Yutan.
