The Fremont High School swimming team dominated its season-opening triangular Thursday night in Columbus.
The Tigers — and their five Washington County student-athletes — won all but two events against the Discoverers and Lincoln Standing Bear.
“There were 11 state secondary times achieved between both girls and boys teams,” coach David Struble wrote in a triangular recap. “Very impressive for the first meet.”
Arlington High School senior Lizzie Meyer, a Nebraska Wesleyan recruit, earned first in the 200-yard freestyle relay with Blair Bears Jane Busboom and Ryleigh Schroeter as well as fellow Tiger Kami Spilinek. The Eagle also earned a top relay finish in the 200 medley with individual wins in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.
Busboom, meanwhile, was first in the 100 freestyle in 56.4 seconds, the 200 free in 2:06.38 and the 400 freestyle relay. Schroeter was on the 400 relay team, too, while adding a 200 IM win in 1:59.63.
Blair's Jacob Hanson and Arlington's Dathan Hansen also competed with FHS, joining forces on the 400 freestyle relay team. Hanson added individual victories in the 200 and 500 freestyle races, stopping the clock in 1:59.63 and 5:39.76, respectively.
Hansen, meanwhile, was third in the 100-yard breaststroke and fifth in the 50 freestyle.
Fremont next swims 4 p.m. today at Norfolk.
