The Fremont High School swim team spent most of its Saturday in Elkhorn.
“Coaches had a long 10-hour day on pool deck at the Elkhorn Invite,” coach David Struble said. “We had really good swims, and both boys and girls team scores were in the top five.”
The Tigers took third out of 13 teams on the girls' side, while finishing fourth out of 13 in boys' competition. Washington County swimmers helped lead FHS in both standings.
Jane Busboom of Blair earned first in the 100-yard backstroke, while also tying for a 100 freestyle victory. She was a member of the second-place 200 freestyle relay and the third-place 200 medley relay as well.
BHS' Ryleigh Schroeter and Arlington senior Lizzie Meyer were also members of the 200 free and medley relay teams' top-three finishes alongside Charlotte Vech and Madelyn Buck, respectively. Schroeter added fourth-place results in the 50- and 500-yard freestyle races, too.
Meyer, meanwhile, was fifth in the 50 freestyle and swam the 400 free relay with Kami Spilinek, Alexis Rasmussen and Vech for sixth.
On the boys' side, Jacob Hanson of Blair was fifth in the 200 freestyle individually. He also claimed top-three finishes on the Fremont Tigers' 400 free and 200 medley relay teams.
AHS' Dathan Hansen, meanwhile, helped his 200 freestyle relay team to an eighth-place finish during Saturday's meet — FHS' last before the holiday break. The Tigers next compete Jan. 4 at Lincoln North Star.
