Six Nebraska high schools claimed NSAA State Volleyball Championships on Saturday in Lincoln.
Lincoln Southwest, Omaha Skutt, Minden, Lincoln Lutheran, Sumner-Eddyville-Miller (S-E-M) and Overton won titles in Classes A, B, C1, C2, D1 and D2, respectively.
Skutt, the champions in B, won its class for the ninth-straight year — a state record. The Skyhawks beat the Eastern Midlands Conference's Norris Titans 3-0 for the title.
The Titans were the final opponent of Blair this season. The state runner-ups swept the Bears during the district finals round.
Arlington played Norris on Aug. 26, too, falling 2-0 during the Plattsmouth Invite.
Washington County schools, however, didn't play any of the other 11 finalists. Southwest won its Class A title against Papillion-La Vista 3-0, while the C1 champs — Minden — beat Kearney Catholic in five sets.
Lincoln Lutheran topped Clarkson/Leigh in C2 during another five-set match, while S-E-M beat Amherst for the D1 crown in four. Overton swept Cambridge in Class D2, 3-0.
