Jane Busboom, Jacob Hanson and Ryleigh Schroeter arrived in time for their Blair High School winter sports photo session Nov. 19.
Fresh out of Fremont Tigers swimming practice, though, they weren't wearing purple. For the third-straight year, BHS student-athletes may take part in coach David Struble's FHS program through a school board-approved co-op.
Busboom and Schroeter will swim on their third Fremont teams this winter, while Hanson, a sophomore, will take part for the second-straight year.
Arlington High School's co-op with the Tigers, meanwhile, pre-dates Blair's. Senior standout Lizzie Meyer returns to FHS' lineup this season, too, as does Dathan Hansen.
Last February in Lincoln, Busboom, Schroeter and Meyer joined forces with teammate Madelyn Buck to earn two top-seven relay finishes during the NSAA State Championships. They were sixth in the 400-yard freestyle in 3:40.04 and seventh in the 200 free in 1:39.34.
Busboom notched an individual seventh-place finish, too. She finished her 100 backstroke championship finals race in 59.62 seconds.
Hanson made his state debut with Fremont, too, earning 25th in the individual 200-yard freestyle. His teammate from AHS, Hansen, regularly competed in regular season freestyle races, too.
The Washington County swimmers and their Tigers begin the 2023-24 season Thursday in Columbus. They then compete Dec. 5 in Norfolk before a home dual with Millard South on Dec. 12.
