Eagles beat Concordia, 51-35

Arlington junior Britt Nielsen was well off of the mark on her full-court heave to end the first half of Tuesday's home basketball game.
The one-armed chuck scattered the Omaha Concordia cheerleaders who'd taken residence on the opposite baseline.
Fortunately for coach Tashia Wolf and company, the Eagles were far more on-target during the 20-point third period of their 51-35 win. Emme Timm and Macy Wolf combined for three 3-pointers during the quarter, helping push AHS' season record to 7-1 overall.
With its output during the 8 minutes after halftime, Timm's team boosted a three-point lead into a 15-point advantage. When asked what changed between halves, she said increased effort had everything to do with it.
“I think coach coming in and telling us the facts that, 'This team is working harder than us. Like, straight-up, and we're better than this,'” the sophomore guard recalled, noting the motivational message of Wolf's halftime remarks. “We all have so much respect for her and we want her to know that we want to play hard for her.”
Altogether, Arlington outscored the Mustangs (1-5 overall) 30-17 during the second half. Timm finished with a game-high 22 points, while both Macy Wolf and Nielsen scored 11. Hailey O'Daniel and Austyn Flesner combined for seven points, too.
“I think just, honestly, catching the ball in rhythm, on-balance and ready to shoot, and encouragement from teammates is really big,” Timm said. “Without it, we are really low on confidence. Overall, our game is just so much better when we're cheering each other on and we have support.”
The Eagles were scheduled to play Wisner-Pilger on Thursday and next compete 4:30 p.m. Dec. 19 at the Lincoln Lutheran holiday tournament.
