The Omaha Westside Warriors earned a pair of dual victories against the Fremont Tigers on Tuesday in the Dillon Family Aquatics Center pool.
The Westside swimming and diving boys beat the Tigers 113-59, while the Warriors won the girls' matchup 117.5-67.5. Even so, FHS coach David Struble was pleased with his team's effort.
“The Tigers showed up with no fear and won a lot of races,” he wrote in his post-dual recap. “The coaching staff was very happy with how the swimmers and divers stepped up against a top team in the state.”
Jane Busboom of Blair won two individual events — the 50-yard freestyle and the 100 backstroke — and the 200-yard medley relay alongside fellow BHS Tigers Ryleigh Schroeter and Kennedy Zehner. FHS Alexis Rasmussen was their fourth teammate, too.
Schroeter, meanwhile, won the individual 200 freestyle as well.
Another Blair Bear, Jacob Hanson, earned first in the 50-yard freestyle for the Tigers. He, too, joined his Fremont teammates to win the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.
Zehner's top individual finish came in the 200 breaststroke. She was second in the event, while Mason Lau of Blair secured a third-place finish in the 500 freestyle.
Arlington's Dathan Hansen earned a fourth-place finish on his 200 medley relay team, while BHS' LeLah Filows took fourth in the 500 free.
Before swimming began, though, another Eagle in Fremont gear won the 1-meter diving event. Eli Hansen took first, giving his Tigers a boost against Westside.
FHS was scheduled to host a triangular on Thursday and next competes Monday against Lincoln East again in the Dillon Family Aquatics Center pool.
