Washington County youth prepare to showcase their hard work at the county fair

You might think of summertime when youth are out of school as many days at the pool, nights at the ballpark and too many ice cream cones to count. Yes, these are all sure signs that summer has approached, but summer for Washington County 4-Hers as well as 4-Hers across the state includes so much more.

Summer as a 4-H member might also look like preparing and creating static exhibits, caring for livestock, and attending summer workshops. This is no different here as our Washington County 4-H youth are busy preparing for the Washington County Fair on July 30 through Aug. 4 in Arlington.

County fairs provide youth the opportunity to showcase all the hard work they have put in throughout the 4-H year. 4-H youth participate in the fair in many different facets. Members may exhibit live animals, enter their static exhibits, or even compete in a contest such as Archery. No matter the realm that a 4-H member chooses to participate they are able to develop life skills while they showcase the knowledge and abilities that they have established throughout the current 4-H year.

Last year brought our 4-H members a very different summertime and fair experience. We know many are very excited to see a return to normalcy at the 2021 Washington County Fair. Plan to come and see for yourself all the hard work our Washington County youth have put forth this year and will be exhibiting in a multitude of ways. Whether you enjoy perusing through the livestock barns or seeing the multitude of static exhibits in the 4-H exhibit hall there will surely be something to peak your interest.

Plan to attend the Washington County Fair to see how youth are showcasing their talents. While you are on the fairgrounds you might as well stay and experience the other fair festivities too!
