Eagles start NCC hoops tourney 1-1

The ninth-seeded Arlington boys basketball team won its Nebraska Capitol Conference (NCC) Tournament opener, but it was no match for the top-seeded Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays on Monday.
The Eagles (4-11 overall) followed up their win against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder with a 62-23 defeat. The loss was their second to the Bluejays (14-1) this season.
Trent Koger led coach Tyler Spitser's AHS squad with 10 points, but the Eagles managed just 10 total through three quarters. They scored 13 against Ashland reserves during the fourth period with Schuyler Logemann, Tyler Ott and Darren Olson all hitting 3-pointers.
Brooks Kissinger, meanwhile, led the Bluejays with 12 points overall. Derek Tonjes had 10 and Dane Jacobsen scored eight.
Arlington was scheduled to play an NCC consolation game against Fort Calhoun on Thursday and competes against the Pioneers again next Tuesday. The regular season rematch begins at 7:30 p.m. on FCHS' home floor.
