Blair boys soccer player Gabe Zurek and Fort Calhoun baseball standout Tylan Conner were among Washington County's top honorees as the Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal Star announced all-state teams last weekend.
Zurek, a BHS senior who scored 29 goals this spring, was selected to the World-Herald's All-Nebraska second team and its Class B first team. His teammates — Shay Bailey, Wyatt Wiemer and Zyler Wyman — secured Class B honorable mention for the Bears.
Ten Washington County baseball players, meanwhile, were recognized by the Journal Star for their spring efforts. Conner was the headliner, earning first-team Class B designation after hitting at a .482 average with two homers.
Fort Calhoun's Zach Faucher, Justin Myer and Jake Seina, meanwhile, claimed honorable mention. They were joined by Arlington's Trevor Denker, Dustin Kirk, Nick Smith and Zach Vanek and Blair's Brady Brown, Dex Larsen and Nolan Osterhaus on the list.
The World-Herald is yet to release its all-state baseball teams.
