Seniors lead Eagle wrestlers to 4th-place finishes

Gilmore, Miller claim gold at home tourney

Arlington's senior wrestlers built on their success in Yutan and pushed their team to a fourth-place finish at home on Saturday.
After weight class titles on Thursday, Hunter Gilmore, Josh Miller and Trevor Cooley came back two days later and finished with two firsts and a third during the Arlington High School Invite. The Eagles finished with 92 team points, besting fifth-place Wilber-Clatonia by one, but still 155.5 behind tourney champion Milford.
Miller was 4-0 at 170 pounds, securing two pins and surpassing 175 career wins. The defending state champion is 33-0 this season.
Gilmore, meanwhile, was 4-0 at 145. The Eagle (32-1 overall) won his championship match against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder's Hunter McNutty by 2-1 decision.
To claim third at 126 pounds, Cooley went 2-1. He earned a pin and an 8-3 decision, securing his 100th career win in the process.
Like Cooley, Arlington's Trey Hill earned bronze. Cade Podany and JoeSeth McBride added fourth-place finishes and Trinton McDuffee was sixth at 182 pounds. Kolton Gilmore also earned a win on the day.

Eagles take 4th at Yutan
Cooley, Gilmore and Miller claimed first place in their weight classes Thursday, helping Arlington finish fourth at the Yutan Invitational.
Cooley was 3-0 at 126 pounds, earning gold with a 4-0 decision win against 24-2 Yutan wrestler Trev Arlt. Gilmore pinned his own way to the 145 title, while Miller won a 8-0 major decision to claim the 170-pound class.
The Eagles' Will Eppenbaugh added a second-place finish at 152, while Hill was third at 106.
