NEBRASKA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION HIGHWAY PROJECT INFORMATION NDOT PROJECT: NH-30-7(120) Arlington East; C.N. 22780 The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) is currently soliciting public input on the proposed improvements of U.S. Highway 30 (US-30) in Washington County. Identified as Arlington East, the proposed project would improve approximately 7.20 miles of US-30, as well as repair three structures located along US-30. The project would start just east of the intersection of 8th Street and US-30, at approximately mile marker (MM) 433.13, and extend east to about MM 440.37, approximately 0.16 miles east of the junction of US-30 and Nebraska Highway 31 (N-31). Construction may begin and/or end approximately 500 feet ahead of or beyond the actual project limits to accommodate transitioning the pavement. The purpose of this proposed project is to preserve the US-30 transportation asset, improve the reliability of the transportation system, and perpetuate the mobility of the traveling public. The need for this proposed project is based on the current condition of the roadway and bridges. The proposed improvements would consist of concrete pavement repairs and joint and crack sealing, removing and replacing the existing shoulder surfacing, removing and replacing guardrail, grading beyond the hinge point and construction of granular subdrains. Curb ramps would be reconstructed as necessary to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines. Three bridge structures (S030 43398 over Bell Creek, S030 43960 over an unnamed stream and S030 43972 over the Union Pacific Railroad) would be repaired, including two-inch grade raise and removing and replacing guardrail. The proposed project would not require the acquisition of additional property rights. Access to adjacent properties would be maintained during construction but may be limited at times due to phasing requirements. No wetland or other water resource impacts are anticipated. No effects to historic properties are anticipated. This project would be constructed under traffic with lane closures controlled by appropriate traffic control devices and practices; however, the proposed project would require a temporary closure of County Road 23 at US‑30 due to phasing requirements for S030 43398 and S030 43960. A suggested alternate route would be provided for traffic utilizing County Road 21 and County Road 32. Access would be maintained for emergency services. Traffic on US-30 would not be detoured. Construction of the proposed project could begin as early as spring of 2024 and be complete by the winter of 2024. The public is encouraged to make suggestions or express concerns regarding this proposed project. Materials can be provided in alternative languages or formats. Comments will be collected through October 10, 2022. Written comments or requests should be submitted to: Sierra Luhn, Public Involvement Specialist, Nebraska Department of Transportation, P.O.
