HS Track Roundup: Blair girls dominate, AHS & FC compete at Logan View

The Blair girls track and field team dominated the competition Tuesday during the Plattsmouth Invite, winning nine events.
The Bears scored 192 team points, besting second-place Bennington by 104. Coach Bryan Soukup said the total is 25 more than any BHS girls team has scored during the past 15 years.
The coach's boys team, meanwhile, added three event wins. It finished fifth, while Omaha Skutt earned the invite title.
BHS senior Hailey Baker broke records to lead the way. The thrower set her school's mark in a first-place discus effort, clearing 134 feet, 3 inches. The previous school record — 132-1 by Gretchen Andersen — was 23 years old.
Baker also won the shot put, while Lance Hume did in the boys' event. Nolan Slominski (800-meter run), Reese Beemer (100- and 200 dashes), Tessa Villotta (100 hurdles), Erika Roehrs (300 hurdles) and Grace Galbraith (pole vault) also won individual events.
The Bears also claimed gold medals in three relays. Dawson Fricke, Nick Wayman, Zach Keeling and Mason Bell won the boys' 3,200 team-up in 8:53.59, while Greta Galbraith, Beemer, Roehrs and Grace Galbraith won the girls' 400 relay in 51.29. The 1,600 girls relay team — Makayla Baughman, Roehrs, Hailey Amandus and Reece Ewoldt — won its in 4:19.4, too.

Arlington, Fort Calhoun compete at Logan View
Arlington and Fort Calhoun shared a track Tuesday during the Logan View Invitational.
The Eagles and Pioneers combined for seven event wins.
AHS won five events, finishing third in the girls' team standings and fifth on the boys' leaderboard. Junior Kailynn Gubbels won three, sweeping the hurdle events and claiming first in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 4 inches. Her winning times in the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles were 14.85 seconds and 48.09.
Senior Jesse Thompson, meanwhile, won the Logan View shot put competition, clearing 44-8.5 on his winning throw. The Eagle was also second in the discus.
Ryann Kirchmann, meanwhile, was second to no one in the pole vault. She set the standard, clearing 6-6.
In addition, Arlington's Barrett Nielsen, Kaden Foust, Colby Grefe, Sebastyen Taylor, Connor Flsner, Nolan May, Keelianne Green, Austyn Flesner, Chase Andersen and Cadie Robinson were among the day's silver medalists.
Fort Calhoun's Jacob Rupp notched two golds, helping the Pioneer boys to seventh in the team standings. The girls, meanwhile, were eighth.
Rupp won the 1,600 run in 4:56.78 before claiming the 2-mile race in 10:37.85.
The Pioneers' Bria Bench added her own second-place finish in the 3,200-meter run. The freshman clocked in at 12:49.29.
