Pioneers split Omaha wrestling duals
The Fort Calhoun wrestling team went 1-1 Tuesday in Omaha.
The Pioneers beat Omaha Northwest in a dual, 51-18, before dropping a 39-36 dual to the Omaha Benson Bunnies. Coach Drew Welchert's lineup was 7-5 in matches overall.
First, FCHS went 3-1 in contested bouts against Northwest. According to trackwrestling.com results, Gage Nixon and Seth Waters picked up pins, while Levi Lasher won a 7-2 decision at 126 pounds.
The Pioneers then picked up four more pins against Benson at 132, 138, 145 and 152 pounds. Waters, Matthew Kelly, Ely Olberding and AJ Duros earned them with Kelly's taking just 59 seconds.
Calhoun next competes 10 a.m. Saturday during the Nebraska Capitol Conference (NCC) Tournament at Conestoga.

DC West beats AHS on the mat
The Arlington and Douglas County West competed in five wrestling matches Tuesday with the Eagles winning three.
The Falcons won the dual, however, 42-36. They earned 30 forfeit team points to AHS' 18.
Tanner Kyllo, Kolton Gilmore and Tate Johannes earned Arlington's victories for coach Doug Hart. Kyllo claimed a 29-second pin at 132 pounds before it took Gilmore 1:07 to pin Brody Radcliffe at 160. Johannes then earned a second-period pin at 182 pounds, too.
The Eagles next compete 10 a.m. Saturday during the NCC Tournament at Conestoga.
