Junior high and high school trapshooters from Arlington, Blair and Fort Calhoun are in Doniphan today and Saturday for the final two days of the 52nd Annual Cornhusker Trap Shoot.
Overall, 2,400 students in grades 6-12 were expected at the Nebraska Trapshooting Association grounds for the three-day championship event, which was scheduled to start Thursday. Marksmen and women from Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado, Kansas and South Dakota were expected to make up the 1,500 high school and 900 junior high kids competing, according to a Nebraska Game & Parks release.
“It should be another great year of competition at the shoot,” shoot director Eric Javins said prior to the event. “Nebraska’s young shooters always put on a great show at Doniphan.”
Competition started Thursday with Junior division (grades 6-8) competition. Results from all three days' worth of competition will appear in Tuesday's Washington County Pilot-Tribune.
