Hanson leads county swimmers at Lincoln Southeast

BHS junior takes part in 3 race wins

The Fremont High School swimming team competed against Lincoln Southeast and Lincoln High on Thursday.
Jacob Hanson was the most successful Washington County swimmer during the Knights' triangular, securing three first-place finishes. The Blair High School junior won the 50-yard freestyle race in 23.42 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 53.25, while also securing first in the 200 free relay. He teamed with Tigers Zayne Keslar, Micah Moore and Elliot Bech in the latter race.
BHS' Ryleigh Schroeter, Jane Busboom and Kennedy Zehner were apart of event wins in Lincoln, too. Schroeter won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:01.88 after joining Busboom, Zehner and FHS swimmer Kami Spilinek for a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The team finished the race in 1:57.93.
Schroeter also earned second in the 100 butterfly, while Busboom took runner-up honors in the 200 IM and third in the 100 freestyle. Zehner was third in the 200 freestyle, too.
Washington County's Dathan Hansen, Eli Hansen, Hannah Huenink and Mason Lau added second-place efforts for the Tigers during the triangular as well. Dathan Hansen, an Arlington High School senior, was second in the 100 freestyle, while his brother, Eli, earned the same place in the 1-meter diving competition.
Huenink, a BHS freshman, was second in the 100 backstroke. Her schoolmate, Lau, took second in the 400 free relay with Hanson, Garrett Nielsen and Elliot Vech.
Blair's LeLah Filows competed for Fremont, too, earning her best finish in the 500 freestyle. She was fifth.
The Blair and Arlington swimmers next compete alongside their Fremont teammates 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Common Ground Community Center in Elkhorn.
