County swimmers compete in their Tigers' home pool

Posted

Blair freshmen Ryleigh Schroeter and Jane Busboom competed in their home pool for the first time as high school swimmers Tuesday while their Fremont Tigers bested Millard South in dual competition.
The FHS girls beat the AquaPats 89-85, while Millard South got the best of the Tiger boys, 100-75.
Schroeter and Busboom are the first Bears to participate in BHS' swimming co-op with Fremont this NSAA winter sports season. Arlington, meanwhile, has had Eagle representation in the Dillon Family Aquatics Center pool for several home dates in recent years.
AHS sophomore Lizzie Meyer sat out of Tuesday's dual against the AquaPats, but rooted on her Tiger teammates from the side. Schroeter, meanwhile, competed on Fremont's 200-yard medley relay team as well as the Tigers' 400 freestyle squad. She also competed in the individual 100 and 200 freestyle races.
Busboom, meanwhile, swam on the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays. The freshman also competed in the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke for FHS.
Arlington's Cade Arnett — currently the most-experienced Washington County high school swimmer — raced on both the Fremont 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. He also competed in the individual 100 and 200 freestyle events.
Another county freshman, Dathan Hansen of AHS, swam on a Fremont 200-yard medley relay team and a 200 freestyle squad. He also entered the pool for the 50 freestyle as well as the 100 breaststroke.
The Tigers' season continues 8:30 a.m. Saturday during the Elkhorn Invitational at the Common Ground Community Center.
