Friday Football Update: Washington County teams go 1-2

Bears win, while AHS and FCHS fall short

Washington County high school football teams went 1-2 Friday night with the Blair Bears notching the lone victory.
BHS topped Elkhorn Mount Michael on the road, while Arlington dropped a home game with Columbus Scotus and Fort Calhoun lost at Platteview.

FCHS drops to 2-3
The Platteview Trojans returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown Friday, besting the visiting Pioneers 48-13.
Fort Calhoun held one lead, 7-6, but fell behind 28-13 by halftime.
Quarterback Austin Welchert scored the first FCHS touchdown on a trick play — a 5-yard pass from Grayson Bouwman. He later returned the favor, throwing a 27-yard score to Bouwman.
The Pioneers are 2-3 this season. They host Ashland-Greenwood next Friday.

BHS bests Mount Michael, 23-3
The Blair Bears improved to 4-1 Friday with a 23-3 win at Mount Michael.
BHS scored a 14-0 halftime lead with J’Shawn Unger catching 49- and 55-yard touchdown passes from quarterback Bode Soukup. The Bears added a field goal during the third quarter and six more points in the fourth to win by 20.
Blair next plays next Friday against Bennington, which moved to 5-0 with a 41-21 win against Elkhorn on Friday.

Eagles fall to Scotus
Columbus Scotus earned a 35-8 win Friday at Arlington, dropping the Eagles to 0-5 this season.
AHS scored its touchdown in the fourth quarter when Cooper Staats completed a 36-yard pass to Kaden Foust.
The Eagles play at Wahoo next Friday.
