Elkhorn North tops BHS, AHS on golf course

The Elkhorn North girls golf team bested both Blair and Arlington on Thursday during a triangular at River Wilds Golf Club.
The defending state champion Wolves finished nine holes with 185 strokes, while the Bears carded 209 at home and the Eagles had 271. North's Julia Karmazin, who played 45 holes at River Wilds Sept. 12, Sept. 13 and Thursday, finished with just 35 swings individually.
Mallory Stirek, meanwhile, led BHS with a nine-hole 48. Lillian Tiedgen added a 50 and Carrie Truhlsen shot a 54, too.
The Bears' Mackenzie Storjohann and Addie Stirek finished with 57 and 60 strokes, respectively.
Tessa Nicholson led Blair's junior varsity lineup with a 62 as well. Quinn Thompson took 67 swings on the front nine, while Diane Mitchell and Kaiya Johnson finished with a 70 and a 77.
Arlington golfer Sarah Rhea led her team during the triangular, shooting a 64 to best teammate Grace Jones by one stroke. Teleri Stamper carded 70 swings, Kayla Schwedhelm had 72 and Kaelyn Kinnaman shot a 76.
The Eagles and their fellow Washington County Bears will compete on the same course again today. The AHS home invite at Fremont Golf Club begins at 9 a.m.
