Freshman Britt Nielsen emerged as a capable scorer for the Arlington girls basketball team, but coach Luke Brenn's squad still started its season 0-2 last week.
The Eagles lost their opener at West Point-Beemer before hosting a 54-36 loss to Ashland-Greenwood on Saturday. Nielsen scored 10 points against the Bluejays, but the visitors led 20-8 after one period and 34-18 at the halftime break.
Brooke Hilgenkamp and Taylor Arp added six points each for AHS, while Ashland's Danielle Tonjes led all scorers with 13.
Two days earlier, Arlington started its season with a 59-31 Thursday loss against the Cadets. Nielsen led the Eagles with 12 points, hitting two fourth-period 3-pointers during her official high school basketball debut.
In addition to the freshman's 12, senior Kate Miller scored eight points and Arp notched six.
Arlington trailed 13-6 after one period and 34-12 after two during the double-digit road loss.
The Eagles next host Yutan tonight at AHS. The girls' game is tentatively scheduled for 6 p.m. after the 4:30 p.m. junior varsity game.
