A man was taken to an Omaha hospital following a single-vehicle crash Friday afternoon.

James Hittle, 58, was driving a Ford Taurus on County Road 15 north of CR P10 on Friday afternoon.

Hittle was traveling northbound when he drove left of the center and drove off the west end of the road, said Capt. Aaron Brensel of the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

The investigation showed he overcorrected a turn and reentered the roadway and lost control of the vehicle. He struck the east road ditch, causing it to roll and land upside down.

Hittle, who had been pinned, was transported by medical helicopter to an Omaha hospital.

No citation was issued and Brensel said the deputies are looking at a possible preexisting condition that may have contributed to the crash.

Brensel said there is an estimated $21,000 in damages to the vehicle.

There is no update on Hittle's condition.
