The Blair tennis team won seven of the nine contested matches Friday at Stemmermann Park, claiming victory on Senior Night against Waverly.
Bears coach Matt Aschoff is proud of all six players — Maicy Lourens, Phoenixx Penke, Anissa Delgado, Delaney Dishman, Taeja Hipnar and Jennifer Cej.
“I give all the seniors a lot of credit for their improvement over their four years. I believe tennis was new to all of them as freshmen,” Aschoff said. “To see where they are at now, with no season last year, shows how they have continued to work over the years. They have been great to coach.”
Lourens and Penke were successful in their singles matches against the Vikings, winning 8-4 and 8-5, respectively.
The Bears' Caitlyn Haggstrom, Addy Nilges and Bailey Dingfield also won as individuals. The scores of those matches were 8-3, 8-2 and 8-3.
Nilges and Dingfield also won their doubles matches, doing so 8-4. Haggstrom and Alexandra Nilges won an 8-1 doubles match as well.
