Blair Youth Shooting Sports' Wyatt Blackford claimed high overall honors last Saturday, helping his Gold team to a first-place finish atop the handicap standings at Harry A. Koch Trap & Skeet in Omaha.
The marksmen hit 48-of-50 clay pigeons from 22-23 yards during the Eastern Cornhusker Trapshooting Conference (ECTC) shoot, while going 93-for-100 overall. He worked with Aaron Pierce, Gage Hearn, Morgan Shaner and Carter Mandarich to finish first in the handicap standings, combining for five more broken targets than the second-place Fremont Black.
Blair's Kalvin Kies finished near the top of the high overall standings with Blackford, shooting 89 targets while Weston Lupardus took out 87. Pierce (85-for-100), Hearn (83), Riley Brodersen (82), Ethan Shaner (82), Jacob Vanek (81), Tyler Hume (81), Harold Kies (81), Elijah Tabor (81), Morgan Shaner (81), Ian Lode (80) and Dalton Duane Nilesen (80) all shot at an 80-percent or better level.
Hearn was also first place from 18-19 yards, while Kies was the champion from 22-23 yards.
The Blair Gold team competing in Papillion at the ECTC's Junior shoot took second, too. Colton Nixon and Johnny Henton finished fourth and fifth, respectively, leading a lineup that also included Jaydyn Backman, Tregan Baker and Jase Lantry.
Nixon and Henton shot 45 clay pigeons apiece, while Jager Leichleiter of Blair took out 43.
Beans leads Arlington marksmen
Young marksmen and women of Arlington continued their ECTC season last Saturday at Harry A. Koch Trap & Skeet.
Jacob Beans was fourth on his Fremont team in the high overall standings, hitting 83 of the 100 targets he took aim at. Cade Arnett also shot 83 clay pigeons, while Blake Japp hit 81. Kaleb Dowling went 78-for-100, too.
In Papillion, Arlington marksmen Wyatt Widman and Brayden Stonehocker finished second and third, hitting 45 targets apiece. Clayton Coe hit 40, too, while Ben Flesner shot 38.
The ECTC continues this weekend with two more Saturday shoots.
