Posted

All three Washington County high school golf teams fell short of first-place Norris on Monday during the Bob Simpson Invitational at Ashland Golf Club.
The Titans finished with 292 strokes over 18 holes, besting second-place Elkhorn Mount Michael by 10 swings.
Blair, meanwhile, won the battle for county bragging rights, earning a tie for 11th with 377 strokes — nine better than Arlington and 30 less than Fort Calhoun.
Easton Chaffee led the Bears with a 10-over par 81. He shot 6-over on the first nine holes before shooting a 39 over Nos. 10-18.
Chaffee started his day with the third group's longest tee shot. He hit further and straighter down the fairway than Lincoln Christian's Isaiah Nunnally and Douglas County West's Devin Lopeman, who finished with an 80 and 82, respectively.
The Bear hit long on his second shot and short of the green on his first chip, but sunk a par putt to start his round. He was 16th overall.
Connor Wayman, meanwhile, carded BHS' second-best score of the day in Ashland. He took 98 swings for coach Ross Udey's team, while seniors Luke Ladwig and Adam Grote each shot 99s. Tyler Lantry took 105 varsity swings as well.
Eddie Rosenthal led Arlington's 386-stroke effort with an 18-hole 86, which was good for 26th. He took 46 swings across the front nine holes before taking just 40 on his way back into the clubhouse.
AHS senior Frankie Rosenbalm carded a 91 — the third-best score among Washington County golfers — for coach Scott Parson's team, too, while Jacob Meehan shot a 98. Stokely Lewis and Dustin Kirk finished with 111 and 116 swings, respectively.
Fort Calhoun's top finishers at Ashland Golf Club were Landon Miller and Tyler Eastman — two seniors. They each took 101 swings with Eastman showing the most consistency over 18 holes, finishing with 51 strokes on Nos. 1-9 after 50 on Nos. 10-18.
Owen Miller added 102 swings for coach Dustin Humphrey's Pioneers, while Owen Newbold took 103 and Dylan Boldt carded 107.
Blair was scheduled for a home dual with Oakland-Craig and junior varsity meet back in Ashland on Thursday, and next competes 9 a.m. Tuesday in its home invite.
Arlington will attend the Bears' meet at River Wilds Golf Club as will Fort Calhoun, which was in Leigh last Tuesday, too.

Pioneers 6th in Leigh
A day after the Ashland trip, the Pioneers earned sixth out of 13 teams at the Club 91 Golf Course in Leigh. Coach Humphrey's team took 389 swings over 18 holes, finishing 45 behind first-place David City Aquinas.
“Course was nice and unique. We played well for the conditions,” Humphrey said. “It was nice to break 400.”
Newbold led FCHS with his 94 strokes, earning 16th overall. Boldt added a 97, while Landon Miller shot a 98 and Owen Miller a 100. Eastman carded 102 swings, too.
