Tigers compete twice this week, too

The Fremont High School swimming team was back in the pool Tuesday against Lincoln Northeast, splitting duals with the Rockets. The girls won, but the boys lost.
The event was the Tigers' first of two away meets this week. They were scheduled against Lincoln High on Thursday, too.
Prior to those duals, however, FHS swimmers — as well as their Arlington and Blair teammates — competed Jan. 20 in a triangular with Lincoln East and Omaha Burke. They went 0-2 in both girls and boys competition.
The Tigers did, however, celebrate their 10 seniors during the event after the Jan. 19 cancellation of school due to winter weather. The snow had postponed their scheduled Senior Night.
Among the honorees was AHS 12th-grader Cade Arnett, who earned third alongside John Monson, Gabe Christ and Connor Christ in the 400-yard freestyle relay. He was also sixth during the individual 100 freestyle with a season-best time.
Arlington swimmer Lizzie Meyer added three second-place efforts for the Tigers, too. She was second in the individual 50-yard freestyle, while also swimming as a member of the runner-up 200 free and 400 free relay squads.
Ryleigh Schroeter joined fellow Blair Bear Jane Busboom, Meyer and Kiera Spilinek in the 400 relay lineup, while also winning the 100-yard backstroke in 1:03.18 and the 500 freestyle in 5:35.19.
Busboom, meanwhile, was second in the 200 IM and the 200 free relay with Meyer, Spilinek and FHS' Madelyn Buck.
BHS student Jacob Hanson notched a fifth-place result in the 100 butterfly, too, clocking in at 59.71 seconds.
