The Arlington High School volleyball team competed at No. 9 Yutan on Thursday, falling 3-0.
The Chieftains improved to 15-2 with the 25-16, 25-14, 25-11 win.
Though it lost, AHS — who'd later go 0-3 during Saturday's Stanton Invitational — battled back from large, early deficits during the first and second sets.
“We have been working really hard in practice and the girls are carrying that over to games,” coach Stacy Nelson said. “Their serving, their heart and their belief in themselves are three key factors to those comebacks.”
She noted 5-foot-10 freshman Macy Wolf as a key contributor against the ninth-ranked team in Class C1.
“She was a smart hitter and had some very timely blocks for us,” Nelson said. “We couldn't be more proud of her.”
Two days later, the Eagles lost 2-0 tournament matches to Twin River, Hartington Cedar Catholic and the host Stanton Mustangs. Their closest matchup came against the Titans. AHS lost the first set just 25-23 before dropping the second 25-19.
Coach Nelson's squad next plays at Louisville tonight. The varsity road match starts at 6:30 p.m.
