The Arlington junior high girls basketball team swept a pair of home tournament games Saturday.
The Eagles beat both Lyons-Decatur Northeast, 43-22, and Tekamah-Herman, 44-38, to go 2-0.
Ainsley Wolf led Arlington with 13 points against Lyons-Decatur Northeast, while Finley Timm notched eight. Stella Volpi (five points), Mya Beasley (four), Gabby Nissen (four), Ella Quinn (two), Brenna Prenzlow (two), Irie McCoy (two), Piper Nelson (two) and Brielle Hilgenkamp (one) all scored, too.
Volpi, meanwhile, added 11 points during the six-point win against the Tigers. Nissen, Timm and Willa Wollberg had eight apiece, too, while Wolf scored seven. Quinn and Prenzlow added one each as well.
Prior to the tournament, the Eagles also played regular season games against Tekamah-Herman and Yutan.
On Feb. 24, the Arlington “A” team lost 41-27 to Tekamah despite Wolf's 10 points. The “B” and “C” teams, however, won 34-25 and 9-7, respectively.
Prenzlow, Chloe Cartwright and Erica Fuchs scored six points apiece during the “B” game, while Holly Hasenauer led the “C” team with five to go with Addi Morgan and Brielle Lozo's two each.
The Eagles' “A” and “B” teams split games against Yutan on Feb. 27, too. Nelson led the victorious “B” squad with an eight-point game during the 28-22 victory. Prenzlow scored seven, too, while Emily Beam had six and Ava Pfingsten scored three points.
Volpi, meanwhile, scored a team-best five points during the “A” squad's 30-18 loss.
