After just 24 total first-half points between Arlington and Raymond Central on Monday night, the Mustangs started the third period with a corner shot that got stuck in the tight space where the cylinder and backboard meet.
The Eagles, meanwhile, started with back-to-back made buckets as girls basketball coach Luke Brenn's team picked up a 45-28 home win. After 15 first-half points, it scored 18 during the third quarter and 12 in the fourth.
“My dad put a goal out for us and he said, 'Let's try and get 12 to 15 points a quarter,'” junior Hailey Brenn said. “So, that was our goal and we wanted to accomplish it.”
Kate Miller and Kylee Bruning scored Arlington's first two baskets of the third period, while Keelianne Green knocked down the last from 3-point range. The sophomore caught a pass with just seconds remaining and heaved the ball as quickly as she could to beat the buzzer.
“Oh goodness,” Green said. “I knew I was going to shoot it right away, but it was just a crazy shot. I did not think that was going in.”
It did and the guard finished with a team-high 12 points. Kailynn Gubbels and Bruning added 11 apiece with two more 3-pointers among them.
“Coach Brenn wanted a couple people in double digits tonight and we did that,” Green said.
Hailey Brenn notched eight points, too.
“We were hype because we came back from losing a couple of games,” the coach's daughter said of the postgame locker room. “We wanted to come back and get this win.”
AHS wanted another Tuesday as well.

Eagles top Logan View, 51-38
Bruning scored a team-high 13 points Tuesday as the Eagles hit the road and bested Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 51-38.
Arlington's point total was its second highest of the season as it improved to 6-7 with its second-straight victory. Gubbels and Green added 12 and nine points, respectively, as seven Eagles scored.
Sophia Vaca, meanwhile, led Logan View with 22 points, but the Raiders fell to 6-8 in defeat.
