When asked if seniors Hunter Gilmore, Trevor Cooley and Josh Miller roughhouse and throw their younger Arlington wrestling teammates around at practice, freshman Trey Hill answered.
“Not much,” the 106-pounder said. “They joke around here and there.”
Instead, the 12th-graders “bring the team together and build them up,” he said.
On Thursday, the efforts of Gilmore, Cooley and Miller were recognized on Senior Night as the Eagles went 2-0 in home duals against Stanton and Oakland-Craig. Miller was 2-0 with two pins in his contested matches, Gilmore was 1-0 and Cooley raised his hand in victory twice, though he didn't get a chance to compete due to his oppositions' forfeits.
First, AHS bested Stanton 48-15. Gilmore pinned Tylor Kment in 2:48 at 152 pounds before Miller grounded and then pinned Sutton Phlman in 4:59 at 170.
Hill, meanwhile, pinned the Mustangs' Arya Erickson in 1:14 at 106 pounds. The freshman said he's improved this season, but, specifically, in one area in particular.
“I think I'm getting better at working on bottom,” he said.
The Eagles then defeated Oakland-Craig 60-18, splitting the only two contested matches. Miller's pin took just 2:17.

4 Eagles medal at Ashland
