The Arlington High School winter sports season begins next Thursday with a pair of Eagle basketball games.
A day later, Dec. 4, Doug Hart's first season as AHS wrestling head coach is set to begin at Blair. He returns three seniors from coach Brandon Mues' final squad who also earned letters last fall — state champ Josh Miller, state medalist Hunter Gilmore and former qualifier Trevor Cooley.
Hart is a former Eagles assistant who's also led the junior high program. He is coaching alongside assistants Tyler Stender and Riley Smith.
Coaches Luke Brenn and Tyler Spitser, meanwhile, will start their basketball seasons Thursday at home against West Point-Beemer. Brenn's girls team has just one senior in Kylee Bruning, but seven overall returning letter winners.
Spitser's boys team has one senior in Aiden Foreman, but solid overall height in its lineup. The Arlington boys play the Cadets at about 7:30 p.m. after the girls' 6 p.m. game. Junior varsity games start at 4:30.
