AHS volleyball goes 1-2 at Stanton tourney

Eagles beat Hartington Cedar Catholic, 2-1

The Arlington volleyball team fell to 6-5 Saturday with a sixth-place showing at a Stanton tournament.
The Eagles went 1-2 with a three-set victory against Hartington Cedar Catholic sandwiched between losses to Crofton and the host Mustangs.
Coach Katarina Nelson's team started Saturday's tournament with a 2-0 loss to Crofton. AHS dropped the first set 25-14 before also losing the second 25-18.
The Eagles responded, though, besting Cedar Catholic 25-22, 21-25 and 30-28. The win was good for a fifth-place match against Stanton, which AHS lost 2-0.
The Eagles next host Louisville at 7 p.m. today.

Eagles drop competitive sweep
Arlington played three competitive home sets Thursday against 11-3 Yutan, but lost all three. The Chieftains earned the first set 25-20 before winning both the second and third by 25-22 scores.
Chase Andersen and Kailynn Gubbels led the Eagles in defeat with 15 and 14 kills, respectively. Andersen also had 12 digs.
AHS' loss was its third of the season and first on their home floor. They fell to 5-3 before Saturday's tourney in Stanton.
