AHS volleyball drops 3-1 match to Shelby

Eagles win 2nd set 25-22

The Arlington High School volleyball team dropped a competitive home match to Shelby-Rising City on Tuesday, 3-1.
Coach Stacy Nelson's Eagles (1-6 overall) lost the first set 25-23, but battled back for a 25-22 victory in the second. The Huskies (7-4) claimed the next two 26-24 and 25-14, however, to earn the match in Arlington.
AHS took a 23-22 lead during the fourth set, but watched as Shelby scored a back-row kill at 25-24, setting up set point. The Huskies won it and took a 5-0 advantage to start the decisive fourth set.
The Eagles' Callee Shearer earned a kill at 7-2, but the road team continued to lead. Peyton Timm and Lizzie Meyer added late kills, too, but it wasn't enough.
Arlington was scheduled to compete Thursday against Yutan and next plays Saturday during a tournament in Stanton. The first match is tentatively set for 9 a.m.
