AHS' Thompson finishes third at NCC tourney

The Arlington and Fort Calhoun golf teams competed Thursday during the Nebraska Capitol Conference at The Pines in Valley.

The Eagles finished fourth with 380 strokes behind conference champion Yutan with 348 and runner up Logan View with 358.

Jayden Thompson led coach Scott Parson's team with an 18-hole 84 and a third place finish. Josh Iossi tied for 10th with 94, but lost in a two-hole playoff to earn 11th. Eddie Rosenthal carded a 98.

“The guys had some ups and downs for the day,” Arlington coach Scott Parson said. “I was pleased with how they competed and represented themselves well at the conference meet.”

Fort Calhoun coach Dustin Humprhrey said the Pioneers “struggled.” Overall, Fort Calhoun finished fifth out of seven teams.

Grant Nixon led Fort Calhoun, carding a 100, while Bode Bench followed with 102. Landon Miller and Jayden Miller each shot 103.

The Eagles were scheduled to host a quadrangular with Fremont Bergan, Yutan and David City at the Fremont Golf Club before joining the Pioneers at 9 a.m. Thursday for the Tekamah-Herman Invite.
