The Class C No. 7 Arlington softball team improved to 5-3 Saturday with a 2-1, third-place showing at the West Point Guardian Angels CC tournament.
The Eagles lost a tight, 5-3 game to the host Bluejays — who ranked No. 2 — but soundly defeated both Ponca and Tekamah-Herman. Senior Hailey Brenn earned the 8-3 pitching win against Ponca, striking out five batters. She also notched four RBIs, while Cadie Robinson tied her for the team lead in hits with three.
In the two-run loss to Guardian Angels, AHS pitcher Kiersten Taylor struck out three batters. Hannah Stahlecker led coach Janelle Lorsch's team with a 3-run homer, though.
Then, during their final game of the day, the Eagles earned a 10-0 shutout of Tekamah Herman. Brenn and Rylee Fuehrer combined for five strikeouts in just four innings of work. Julia Landauer, Paige Kraemer and Robinson logged two hits apiece, while Sydney Magnino knocked in two runs.
