AHS girls basketball improve to 9-1

After a Lincoln Lutheran Holiday Tournament title win Dec. 31, the Arlington High School girls basketball team went 2-0 on a two-game road swing last Friday and Saturday.
The Eagles beat Concordia on Friday, but faced another test Saturday at Wisner-Pilger. The Gators played coach Tashia Wolf's team tight for three quarters, but fell off during a 17-4 fourth, losing 65-50.
Emme Timm led the way for AHS, breaking open the close road contest with a 3-point make at 61-50 during the final period. The junior finished with a season-high 32 points, shooting 15-for-17 from the foul line.
The Eagles' Macy Wolf scored 22 points, too, sinking one 3-point shot per quarter, finishing with four makes from beyond the arc total. Lastly, Britt Nielsen added nine points and Libby Hegemann had two.
Arlington (9-1 overall) next plays 6 p.m. Friday against Raymond Central. The Eagles will serve as the home team in their home gymnasium.

Eagles best Concordia
Timm scored 22 points Friday, too, as the Eagles bested Omaha Concordia on the road, 56-44.
AHS led from the start, earning a 16-7 first period lead before taking a 29-21 advantage into halftime. Timm was 7-for-8 from the foul line to lead her team, while Wolf added 12 points. Nielsen had 10, too.
Charis Hughes, meanwhile, led the Mustangs with 14 points in defeat. Her team dropped to 4-4 overall as Arlington picked up its eighth win of the season.

Eagles win holiday tourney
AHS wrapped up its Lincoln Lutheran Holiday Tournament title Dec. 31 against Holdrege.
Trailing 29-25 going into the second half, the Eagles allowed just 11 second half points during the 50-40 victory. The win was their seventh of the first month of the 2024-2025 season.
Nielsen totaled 18 points to lead Arlington, while Wolf scored 14 against the Dusters. Timm added 12 points, too, as Hailey O'Daniel and Hayley Arp added four and two, respectively.
Keeley Vaughn scored 13 points to lead Holdrege in defeat.
